So true. Adversity build character. How do you know what you are capable of unless you are tested?
Well said Carol!
Not enough adversity and a person grows weak. Too much, and a person gets crushed. In the words of Voltaire, silk slippers go down the stairs, hobnail boots go up the stairs.
That’s an interesting mental image. It is possible to slide down into darkness, so softly and gently you don’t even realize it’s happening. And rising up requires hard work!
Completely true! What will happen when everything can be done by voice command? Will
people refuse to move from their chairs? For an interesting treatment of this, you might
look up a short story by H.G. Wells called the “The Machine Stops”. Captain Charlie Plumb
was a fighter pilot. All fighter pilots learn that “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”.
